Brain Injury Awareness Week is held during the second week of August each year. Headwest is part of the national campaign called BangOnABeanie that encourages everyone to purchase and proudly wear a bright blue beanie in order to raise awareness of brain injury in our community.
BangOnABeanie is over for 2014 and what a fantastic week it was. Thank you so much to all those that took part, whether you attended an event or ran one of your own - you made Brain Injury Awareness Week for 2014 our best year ever! None of it would have been possible without the support and assistance of the City of Fremantle, Fremantle Rotary Club, Homebuyers Centre and Lotterywest.
HOST YOUR OWN EVENT
Headwest were so fortunate to have many supporters who hosted their own barbeque during the month of August. Our supporters helped to raise funds for Headwest and also helped raise awareness of brain injury.

OPEN DAY - REHABILITATION AFTER A BRAIN INJURY
During Brain Injury Awareness Week Headwest held an open day to discuss Rehabilitation after a Brain Injury.
Thank you to all those who attended and supported Headwest's Open Day.
A special thank you to our guest speaker Dr Dade Fletcher MD, FAFRM Head of Service, Rehabilitation, Fiona Stanley Hospital and Head of Department, Rehabilitation Medicine, Royal Perth Hospital, Shenton Park Campus, for an informative presentation about the new State Rehabiltation Service that has opened at Fiona Stanley Hospital in October 2014.
BANGONABARBIE IN FREMANTLE
BangOnABarbie. What a great day! A day of family fun with music, Scitech, lots of brainy experiments, Knit a Neuron Project and of course a yummy BBQ.
A huge thank you to the Fremantle Rotary Club who cooked and served sausages all day and also to the Spirit of the Streets Choir who entertained the crowds with their singing.
Of course the day would not have been a success without the enormous effort from the Headwest staff - Bravo!
Thank you to all the Headwest supporters who came and visited us at one (or more!) of our displays during BangOnABeanie week.
Your support of Headwest and kind donations assist us in our advocacy and awareness work with those living with an Acquired Brain Injury in the Western Australian community.
